Vangasali Campaign Calls for National ECD Survey

We at EDUX SA understand that ECD centres are eager to reopen and we support the reopening of our sector using a risk adjusted strategy.

Unfortunately, our centres and all partial care facilities will remain closed until the final risk analogy and standard operating procedures have been finalised and approved by Government. This includes all Preschools, even those within the Independent Schooling Sector. Children 0 to 6 may not return to any place of care yet.

We know that is not what you wanted to hear but, there is light at the end of this very dark tunnel. Today we were able to interact with DSD’s Chief Directorate for Early Childhood Development, she presented a framework for reintegration and 8 Workstreams were identified. EDUX SA will be involved in steering a task team to prepare for reintegration and we are grateful for the opportunity to get our Sector up and running again.

The Minister of Social Development will be addressing the Nation this week and she will be launching the Vangasali Campaign. This campaign is supported and funded by the Nelson Mandela Trust. The objective of this campaign will be to find and identify all Partial Care facilities operational in all of the Provinces in SA. All ECD networks have been requested to assist by participating in a National ECD Survey so that DSD can use the information gathered to ensure your facilities are ready and can reopen. If we want to speed up the process all centres, day mothers, caregivers etc. need to supply information in order to get “mapped”.

The longer the centres and caregivers take the longer it is going to be before ECD sector will reopen, therefore EDUX SA is calling on ALL of you to share this link and complete the survey to speed up the process of reintegration.

Registered or unregistered, no ECD facilities will get into any trouble, you need to be mapped or you will not be allowed to reopen because the necessary monitoring cannot take place.

To take part in the survey, visit: http://eduxsa.org/national-ecd-survey/

Keep the Faith!

It is important to open ecd centres because the brain development in ecd have a direct impact of a childs brain capacity later years
Most of the staff members are woman who are sole providers for their families
Some of our smaller schools have everything in place to open
In whose interest is it not allowing US.

Please take above mentioned in consideration in your descision making

    Kind regards

We just wait to get the forms and a checklist, to see what short etc. Furthermore we believe that everything will get better from now. The goverment start to get a revelation of the other sectors of the Founddations of the small Childrens. We as ECD sector have a Big Responcibility to get our Children up to date with the milestones of their ages and ready to start to climb the ladders of their futures.

Painful as it may sound, we will just have to comply with the government guidelines. With ECD children, the biggest challenge is social distance. At ECD we learn by playing, and playing together. Physical contact (touch) is part of our learning without which learning is difficult. Let’s try and find out if there are other avenues we can use to go round this challenge.

We have an ECD centre on site. As we have been permitted to open in level 4 (as a mental health organisation), we are equipped and ready for our small number of children to return to school. We have only 45 learners, 4 teachers in a large space, including outside play areas. Social distancing is possible, sanitising of the school has already commenced, we have hand sanitisers, masks as well as curriculum plans to adjust behaviour in place. Most of our parents are in support of us opening and we are anxious to continue providing a safe place for our learners to learn and play.

My take on this matter,I think the centres must re-operate when the timing is right,we can’t take risk to infect children and yet claim we care for them.

Yes,we currently struggling financially as we have to pay salaries and so forth. But our main concern is children’s safety.

I think that if we are given the opportunity to reopen our services, we will definitely make sure that all the regulations under Covid 19 are being followed and we will also develop a plan on how we need to restructure our programmes to ensure that what we do on daily basis with the children are issues related to Covid 19 so that they message can be quickly transformed to our learners.
